Design is a much misunderstood term often applied to pretty much anybody that puts up a web site: Designers, programmers, illustrators, coders, script-kiddies…

For Rasa Design Studio, a Designer has a BA, BFA, MA, or MFA in Design, or the equitable work experience under a designer. They understand design concepts. “Design” is not merely “layout” and “illustration,” but rather an ability to visualize and distill an entire business to a series of objectives, visuals, layouts and functionality all directed toward discreet purposes.

Different designers have a different alchemy of skills and visual styles. For that reason, while we offer design in-house, we prefer to hire designers for a job based on a match between design styles and the needs of the client.

Typical rates for different positions on a project are as follows:

Production Artist / XHTML coder: $15 – $27 per hour
Junior Designer: $25 – $30 per hour
Designer: $27 – $30 per hour
Senior Designer: $30 – $60 per hour
Art Director: $35 – $75 per hour

Designer / Programmers (those that can do both) are hired at a rate based on skills and portfolios.

We prefer to hire designers that understand marketing and tableless XHTML / CSS design.
