Case Study – IBM’s TradeRoots

Case Study: IBM TradeRoots

Rasa Design Studio started out as merely the User Interface designer for this Super Large Project Task Manager, TradeRoots. This is one of the last Intra-Net, corporate projects we did before switching fully into eCommerce development for small- and medium-sized businesses. Essentially, the application was a massive resource manager for super-large projects on the scale of sky scrapers and The Big Dig. While our initial role was simply the design of the UI using data supplied by a Java Abstraction layer, issues with data format held up the project until we offered a simpler, non-java solution.

We were now in charge of the Java, UI and a DHTML-to-Flash mirror that could be used with Field Computers.

We ended up jumping the project ahead of schedule through the elimination of the before-needed abstraction layer and the UI, both DHTML and Flash version, were able to handle and process the data directly.

Again, Navigation employed the still new use of dynamic data that would later become the cornerstone of eCommerce applications to this day.
